Had to replace the starter on the Rubi a few months ago. I went right to the dealer, it was a brand new starter for the price of a rebuilt one from Advance Auto Parts.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. I wonder how often that actually does happen... someone takes liberties with a parked car for parts in a massive parking lot.

Went with an O'Reilly Auto Parts special today - not sure if they are in New England. Read good and bad things about them, going to develop my own opinion. Lifetime warranty. Install was wicked fast, done and done in 20 minutes from lights on in garage to lights off. Engine turned right over, and purrs like a kitten.

I don't think there are any O'Reilly's over here. They're all over the mid west though.

Glad your Heep is back to normal.

True story - somebody yanked the distributor out of my VW beetle (old style) in a parking lot once. Owner of the lot (U. S. Taxpayers) ended up buying me a new one...

any other recommended starters? mine hasn't died yet, but i'm sure it's on its way out! looks like napa, etc mostly carry remanufactured ones. should i just go straight to the stealership per doug's suggestion?

Check the warranties... if they have a lifetime a re-manufactured one isn't a bad deal. I think Napa usually has lifetime.

Alternatively you could look for a high performance / high torque aftermarket model which may be better suited to drive your jeep...
