First off, turns out "vacation" doesn't start until next weekend, that's probably a good thing since I spent a good bit of time head scratching today. Worked mostly on getting the rear axle positioned today. Got the corners off, cut some sheet metal, set the axle where I liked the departure angle, I was probably about 5" off the end of the frame rail. Got a front tire lined up with a similar attitude, a few inches past the frame rail. Stretched a tape measure to get an idea of wheel base....120" Might be cause this fawker was helping me out.



OK, so that's not going to work, target it 110" with 90* approach and departure angles, definitely going to have to chop the frame. There's not really much room to chop the front and still be able to mount a winch in between the frame rails. The rear can definitely go back a lot. Looks like I'm going to remove the rear crossmember:



and cut the frame just in behind the body mount, then use some 1.5" DOM for a new crossmember just in front of the body mount. This should be pretty close to where I'll be after the frame chop, back of the tire about 1" behind the body:

At this point I was able to get it down to 110" still maintaining 90* approach and departure.

Must feel good to finally start positioning the axles!
