Re: Body Armor Rock Sliders, 97-06 Jeep Wrangler, TJ, Rubicon
I was talking to Lou about this a few days ago. he did in fact hear back from Body Armor and the mfr switched to a cheaper material without telling them. Body Armor has gotten a lot of complaints as of late from people that actually wheel their jeeps that these are not holding up like they should. They are fixing the production issue and Lou is hoping he can swap the bad ones that have gotten damaged out for the fixed version. If you bought these in the past year or so get in touch with whoever you ordered them from and wait for December or so for new units to be available....

Hi Joe,

Thanks for asking. Hope to see you at the meeting on the 16th.

Well I put a couple nice dents in the Body Armor rails Lou installed for me over the summer. I wasn't doing anything crazy, just trying to get up some slippery rocks on the 10/30 outing. I just emailed Lou and I'll post any updates on wheter Body Armor will issue replacements.

holy chit those things are CRUSHED! That ain't right. I've been running my sliders for 2 years and they're scratched, but not dented. And I bought them used!del_TJ wrote:Well I put a couple nice dents in the Body Armor rails Lou installed for me over the summer. Re: Body Armor Rock Sliders, 97-06 Jeep Wrangler, TJ, Rubicon
So last week I talked to Lou about the dented sliders since he sold them to me. He's still waiting to hear if Body Armor will do anything for customers stuck with the crappy rails. Lou forwarded my email to someone called Jeff Neubauer who's in charge Body Armor sales --- No Response. I went to the website and emailed the Body Armor people --- No Response. Just got off the phone with them and it was actually really helpful!
The guy who answered talked to his manager who said there was a "bad batch" of maybe 10 - 15 units that they are not capable of tracking down. They're expecting a new batch of rock sliders with the proper tubing at the end of this month and they're just going to mail me a new set at no charge. They told me to just throw away the old ones. I did have to forward them a copy of the my invoice from Elia's.
There must be a lot more than 15 bad ones out there since I've already heard of half a dozen accounts of bent tubing on their rock rails. But who cares as long as they take care of it. Here's their info.
