Me too. I can buy and program one if there aren't any more "club" radios, but would appreciate the ease of a pre-setup unit. I'm planning at being at Gremlin this Sunday (9/16).

Curious if the club has any of these left for sale or not?
I could get one or some off Amazon if anybody else needs one.
If I have to buy off site, does anyone still have cable/software to program if needed?

Yes people have program cables. There are a few threads about this. There are no radios left to purchase. The club didn't buy them they were prepaid. I had ordered some extras but they have all been sold.

Thanks Mark.
Any suggestions other than the one on page one? That looks a lil cheesy.

Try this one. You can also manually program it if you have the time...

Yeah everyone in the club has cheesy radios.
I'ld buy a $100 dollar one.
That way when it gets wet, lost, broken or run over your only out $100 instead of $20.

Thanks! That's the same one on page one...
Funny - In QnA I see this:
Q: Can this be used as a FRS 2-way radio?
A: Short answer is - Yes but not legally.

In Boston it is illegal to scare a pigeon.
It's also illegal in Massachusetts to have a goatee unless you obtain a license to do so.

Answering both of these, the radio can transmit on channels that require a specialized licence to operate on. Up until a recent ruling change that statement was correct because the previous law for use of FRS radios was very specific about how the radios were sold. That was since changed, and I would presume that the question and answer predates that statement or that the answerer is unaware of the change in regulations.
It is illegal to scare a pigeon in boston that is attempting to be trapped.
Also of note;
In Concord MA, and I beleive 2 other communities it is illiegal to sell non sparkling bottled water in containers of 1 liter or less.
At a wake mourners may eat not more than three sandwiches.
A duel to the death is permitted only on Sunday mornings and only if the Governor is present

Christmas is also illegal in MA.
I've had the same radio the club is using now for a few years and they work really well. As Mark said you will be a lot less unhappy if you loose a 25 radio vs a 100 radio that works the same as the one we are using. Ive had far better luck with the new radios than I did with my CBs over the years.

It's also illegal to have an outhouse with out a roof apparently.
I have had very look luck with our "cheap" radios. I have used them since we switched over. CB's are a good backup and work well if you are doing something with another club or open runs. You can also program in RX frequencies and listen like a scanner I am told. Not sure on the legality of that but, for the price of a two way with a weather band and the capability to use as a scanner, It's $25 well spent.

Listening is not an issue, you can legally listen to anything on an open frequency its transmitting on it that requires the permits and or licenses.
