To make the TJ 5 speed work, I found out (LOL, years later, obviously) the body lift linkage correction for YJ or TJ will work, but that another topic. I also learned I like my Atlas II much more than the 231.

My shifter for several year, on 3 XJs (because I had a TJ 5 speed) was a tarp, a flash light and a small crow bar. If the trans is in neutral, it should shift ok.
