I would think Ryan that hes right about it bending again. The way the axle shaft enters the carrier depends on it being straight. Even one or two degrees at the wheel will put strain on the carrier as its trying to bend the axle shaft to the point where it puts strain on other components. Id look for at least a different housing and put your stuff in it. My opinion bud . FjR68

Good points guys. I'm leaning towards the 60, 'cause by the time I buy all new internals for the 44, get a new (to me) housing, weld on new brackets, truss, setup lockers/gears (for the first time), I'm not that far off the 60 which is practically bolt in. Then if anything goes wrong with the 44 I'm at almost equal cost if not worse.

Well, you probly do not want to hear this Ryan but you could go to Dan and have him put thick axel tube on your 44 housing. If you end up getting a replacement axel then you would have to brace it to say the least. You like to beat on that LJ so beef it up!
I put an OX Locker in my xj and it worked great this past weekend. It's big and beefy and it works. Just saying...

Lou mentioned that, but I can't justify giving Dan any more of my $. And by the time I re-tube, add brackets, add internals, etc I'm a good portion of the way towards that 60. An Ox won't work with the rockjock housing. G2 does offer an eaton, but my gut says ARB since I want selectable. I really just want to spend the $$$ once.

Sell the usable parts from your old axle to help defray the cost of the 60 :dance:

I have ARBs that Lou installed... No issues with them. Keep the gear oil clean and I haven't had issues. My mileage in 6 yrs is fairly low though.
