Just want to comment that if these shops couldn't diagnose your caster issue (which would be plain as jane after the alignment tech ran out the machine's heads), then I definitely wouldn't go back to any of these guys.


A little BSJ trivia on alignments....

I met Lou Kiklis (Elias 4WD) 20 years ago (long before Baystate or Elias 4WD!) when he worked for Hunter Engineering. He'd come in to the shop to service our alignment machines and would have Gypsy with him.

Thanks for the info, Joe. Never heard of a shim at lca before this. :)

I believe at some point, XJ's deleted the shim point and added an eccentric on the control arm. My kid's XJ has the shims in the same spot as yours (her's is an '89).

The truck actually went back to one of those places for a possible lower ball joint.

I was just stumped.. Hahaha

That is what I was referring to.

AFAIK, XJs never used eccentric cam bolts on the LCAs like the TJ did. I know my '98 has the shim.
