Pre-oiler?????? WTF is that!?!?!?!? Once, maybe twice a year (if I remember to do it) I pull the plug on my Sanden, give it a few squirts of Duralube and call it good. Been running the same pump for about 5 years now!!!!!!!

From what I've been reading different models of Sanden use different types of piston rings... The older ones (509 & 709) used steel and if the lube failed they'd chew up the aluminum cylinder walls... The newer models (715) use 2 teflon o-rings / cylinder and have more cylinders too. The newer ones are supposed to have less blow-by and the teflon won't chew up the aluminum, but they wear out pretty fast if they don't stay lubed.

The newer ones probably benefit from the tool oiler more than the old ones would...

I did use a small tank, 2.5 gallons. I bought all my fittings at the local hardware store. The only piece that was a bit of a hassel to get was the presure switch. I ended up finding the one I wanted (square D) on Grainger.com, so I called up and ordered it from customer service and they set up an account for me so I could go down to the local store and pick one up. It turns on when the preasure in the tank is below 80psi and turns off when it reaches 120psi. The tank I purchsed from Killby, hindsight being what it is I would have searched for a cheaper tank. Then, while on vaca down the cape, I took the hose and inflator to a local Heavy Equipment supply and had them crimp on all the fittings. All in all I spent roughly $300-$350 for the entire set-up. And it was worth every penny. It is strong enoght to re-bead a 38in Bogger (fall crawl 2010) and can fill my 35 claws from 8psi to 30psi in 90 seconds. Not to mention the numerous other uses with the blow gun attachment. Just be carefull when inflating your kids basketball.

if anyone wants a pic i have my old sanden disassembled and sitting in a box in my garage. i must have had the newer type, because my old oiler ran out and within a few fill ups the compressor died. FYI, don't get the cheap oilers, they barely hold anything and don't seem to fill well. i ended up going with this: larger capacity, adjustable flow, seems to work perfectly!

The garage I'm renting to store my XJ for the winter is around the corner from U-Do-It in Nashua. On the way home I stopped in to chat with Jerry, since I was driving by anyway... Jerry indicated they have the equipment to evacuate / collect the coolant... Won't cost too much to have him do it either.
