What I've been up to.
Well, been working on the XJ a little bit. I still need to trim the front fenders and install the new front coils and bastid pack rear leaves, but, not too shabby running 33x12.5's on just about no lift. I flexed her out a bit and she rubs less than you'd think (I've already trimmed some). Mounted on a stock 15x7, the rear tucks up quite nicely.
Do the old timers recognize the front bumper? Yep, it's Pat's old bumper from her XJ.
My other project was converting my trailer to a food hauler for Scouting for Food. I'm a Den leader for the Tiger Cubs and we expect about 100 lbs of food per boy x 53 boys. That's an expected 5,300 lbs of can and dry goods. 'Tis the season to lend a hand.

Thanks man! Rugged is what I'm looking for.
Actually it's not even my Jeep, it's my daughter's.

Re: What I've been up to.
You are lucky. I have 3.5 inches of lift on my 96 xj 4 door and I could not fit my 33x12.50's with out cutting. It would not turn at all without serious rubbing I just did enough cutting to make it streetworthy (for now) If I flex it a little I still rub! I need to do a lot more cutting before it gets wheeled!

I think the 2 door has a larger rear wheel well than the 4 door.

Thanks Carl. I have a set of 3" coils or 1 3/4" spacers, and I'm really thinking about just using the spacers. I have some rear shackles and add-a-leaves to make a nice bastid pack with some YJ leaves for the rear. Low budget is key. That would leave the 3" coils for my buggy.

You know after all of this work for Michaela's Jeep, all she wants is for me to replace the AM radio.

Re: What I've been up to.
Picking up an XJ Dana 44 rear this weekend. Already have an 8.25 29 spline I found for cheap last fall, but it was the right price. It needs brakes, but the newer brakes from the non-c clip Dana 35 that's back there will bolt right on. I'd like to pull the front axle this weekend and beef up the factory (and rusty) control arm mounts, install the front locker, and swap in a good(used) track bar. She'll go back in with a set of 1 3/4" spacers with some fender trimming.
The next mission will be to install the rear 44 (w/locker), bastard leaf pack, and new rear shackles.
The early summer will bring a motor swap and tech day, complete with burgers and beer (and wine for those of higher taste ). Stay tuned.
