fun morning

Unread post by Baseshakers »

so my jeep used to go well below the E before i actually ran out of gas. in fact, i've never run out of gas before and it's been way down there. this morning i ran out of gas on the way to work. gauge still in the middle of the E. i'm guessing the gas tank skid (kilby) has taken enough abuse to push the sensor up a ways. good thing was that i went under hood, popped a fuse in to defeat the clutch safety and drove it 1/2 mile to a gas station on the starter. (glad i had the dual battery). starter was smoking but i made it.

Does not sound like fun. my gas guage has been toast since last years final run. Made it to Rausch and back twice fine by being paranoid. Was trying to get it low to drop the skid before the last trip so I could drop the tank and check it out. Ran short on time and in driving up my street to the gas station ran out of gas for the first time in my life

I wouldn't think that's possible for a 1/2 mile run :o Does the starter still work okay enough?

yep, it's fine! some of the run was slightly downhill, but the starter still had a workout.
