Shock Length Question

I'm currently running Rancho 2" lift with Rancho 9000 shocks. The specs for the Rancho front are collapsed 14.11" and extended 21.76". I am looking to replace with Bilstein 5100. Specs for Bilstein are collapsed 14.98" and extended 24.65".

Are there any concerns with this swap I should be aware of?
Do I need to worry about front drive shaft or front springs coming out?

why not just replace with the same length bilsteins as the ranchos. As a side note, bump stops should be used and adjusted correctly to prevent shocks from overextending and acting as a suspension limiter

Thanks Tom. Unfortunately, Bilstein 5100 don't come in same size as the Ranchos

On the extension side, you can add straps to limit travel. I think I saw them on Ken's rig.

aftermarket bump stops could make up for any issues at full compression, the straps for extension. the only way to know for sure is to pull the springs out and cycle the suspension checking the driveshaft for binding, but since this is on a front axle, id imagine the angles are shallow enough for the ujoints to not bind up. If it was the rear of a TJ, id question it. My TJ with the short control arms maxed out on the front control arms before the limit of the shocks. Not knowing your exact setup, I can't be certain.

Thanks Jack and Ish. Great suggestions. Still going back and forth between the longer Bilstein 5100 and the same Rancho 9000 I currently have. I will definitely clear coat the Ranchos beforehand if I do go that route.
