Body Armor Rock Sliders, 97-06 Jeep Wrangler, TJ, Rubicon

DO NOT PURCHASE - NOT WORTH THE $$

Bottom line, the tube step is made from a thin .120" tube and will crush with ease. According to Lou, Body Armor must of recently changed the design b/c the tube used to be make of a thicker wall or greater dia. Lou stated that he was going to contact Body Armor regarding my feedback and his concerns. I suggest if you also have purchased these, please contact Lou regarding your feedback. If you were thinking about purchasing these... DON'T

Thats a shame. I bought mine in 2005 and I've dragged them quite a bit. I do have a minor dent in one, but it was a hard hit.

the ones on my JK are darn near bullet proff not that Im wheeling that anymore. The ones on my TJ are more or less junk and have a few good hard hit areas too causing major damage to that sliders where i hit them. I second what Chris is saying and say stay away from these.

The set I got for my JK has held up just fine. Took a few hits on Rose Garden Hill out in Moab, no problems.

I had these on my TJ and smashed them on lots of rocks and they held up great! I then sold them to my friend and he continued to smash the hell out of them and still is.

I think the material they used changed last year as Chris and I got ours around the same time. they are not nearly as beefy as what is in my JK and are physically a lot lighter.

usually when you have body damage you know EXACTLY how you got it. not so with these sliders...

two thumbs down on this set. Not catastrophic failure mind you but more crumple that seems appropriate...

I bought a used set and they've held up real well. Scrapes, yes. Crumple zones, no

Kind of supports the 'they use thinner material now' argument

I have old Poison Spyder Rocker Knockers. They have been awesome.

When the XJ hits the trails this fall, it'll be running "Joe built" rocker guards.

We've got Body Armor sliders on the Rubi, bought 3 or 4 years ago. Have held up extremely well, I remember actually pivoting on an obstacle, slider on rock. Can't say how the new ones are, but the older versions have my vote.

for a TJ, you can't beat the 4" x 1.5", .25" thick angle iron that Matt had bolted to the sides of his TJ. Cost was $20 plus paint and hardware. Same as these on my YJ:

went by and saw Lou today and he mentioned he knew of 3 people like Chris and myself. Its clear to him they changed material and these are less robust than they used to be. As Chris mentioned he contacted the company and has stopped selling these until they can tell him whats going on... Lou also mentioned we should give him feedback when these things happen so he can be aware of new issues and trends in the products he sell....
