Will a D44 from 3/4 ton truck work for a TJ?
Just wondering if a front D44 from a 3/4 ton truck fit in the front of a 03' TJ? Besides mount, what else would I have to do?

77 to 79 (?) 3/4 ton Ford HP D44. It also has 8 lugs which you can change to 5x5.5.
I have a 1/2 ton Ford HP D44 just had it narrowed to TJ/XJ length. TJ/XJ bracket is getting welded on in the next couple of weeks when I have time.

What size tires are you planning on running? A swap from the Dana 30 may not be needed.
You could install a full size Waggy front Dana 44 and buy a weld on truss that has the mounts. The width is just about perfect and you'll have the option to run either 6x5.5 (stock Waggy) or 5x5.5.
What are you running for a rear axle? IMO, even if you have the factory 44, a FSJ rear 44 will have stronger tubes and bigger brakes. Make it worth swapping in pairs.

I have a d30 front / d44 LSD rear running 32's but plan on 35's down the road.

I would look for a high pinion 30 from an XJ. Plenty strong, will bolt right in with no modifications.Chris wrote:I have a d30 front / d44 LSD rear running 32's but plan on 35's down the road.
