YJ Frame Differences? 1988 vs 1994

Unread post by Kurt »

Could a 1988 YJ frame be swapped into a 1994?

...assuming they both had a 6 cyl in them...

Don't see why not. From what I've read, the big difference was 4cyl or 6cyl.

Wouldnt it be the same anyway , other than motor mounts ? I would think there would be a change with a model change Vrs. an engine change . FjR68

The motor mount brackets were all welded onto the YJ frames.

I am but not a frame swap

Actually I posted the question for Edrick. He attended the RC trip last week and discovered that his YJ's rear shackle area was rotted out in his frame . He has a line on a 88 frame he's considering swapping in.

Yeah, Edrick's frame is real Swiss Cheese back there. For the amount that would need to be patched........

Meh. We could have fixed it in Moab with a couple extra sticks of 7013.
