Spring Jeep Fever: Signs You May Have a Problem

Unread post by MattJ »

Been spending a lot of hours this month in my garage with BEV, just looking for something to clean, fix, replace or upgrade. It's getting so bad that I even polished my hood latches today.

My wife told me a I have a problem and need to seek help. I told her: "You're right. I'm going to see my support group on Saturday in New Braintree."

Can't wait!

Don't feel bad Matt, my soft top is back on, raptor lined my fenders and rails, respooled the winch, dropped and painted the banged up skids, roll bar padding and even drove to work today with the back windows out. I guess maybe I should wash it now.....
Chrome? Never heard of it.

It's contagious right?
I have been out in my Jeep every day after work doing similar....

Took off the rear seat belts... cause I don't have a back seat!
Building a custom trail jack mount.... cause I can!
Working on a custom tool/goodie organizer for the back... cause it's light out till past 7!

I think I might need some help! LOL :obscene-drinkingcheers:

So this guy stops over and says , is she ready ? I said yup ! Then i mentioned making new brackets for the alt so I can move the belt on the PS pump to slow it down. Next you know everything is apart and were off to the store for belts of the unknown size. Well thats done. Next it was spark plugs and an elect connection that worked when it wanted to. I was sure it was the gas from two Novembers ago. Turns out only one injector was firing . Yes ! Its a runner after not wheelin at all last year . Im ready to give it another shot. Oh , Im not gonna mention Kens name FkR68

Not a problem at all Matt, its just something you get used to. Remember you can still clean up and detail the shop vac, cant have that dirty thing touching your now clean jeep....
'97 thats been chopped up and put back together, and ready to take on the trails.

Let's See...
2 weeks ago:
Upped to 35"s.
Installed mounting bracket for my new Hi-Lift jack.
Last Week:
sanded/painted and installed my "New to Me" Tuffy Security Enclosure.
This past weekend:
Installed New brakes rotors, Pads, and E-Brakes to the rear (took 5 hours, never learned about the E-Brake adjustment screw to open the pads, one rotor took like 4 hours to get off, then had to replace what I destroyed getting them off.)
Sunday Oil change, K&N Filter clean/recharge, pressure washed the engine bay...

Yep, Spring is here.

Looking for a wrench fest to install the remaining:
2.5" lift kit (Springs and Shocks)
RockKrawler quick Disco front sways
EVO Evap armor (does not require complete removal of the evap canister, uses OEM bolt holes and bolts)

I have replacement front inner fender liners from ACE engineering, but waiting till I pick up the Bushwacker fender flares before putting them on the list.

I just put on 35"s (2dr, stock height) and have been enjoying the low-rider look while I wait for my lift kit to arrive.
Definitely no trail time for me until its lifted but hoping to do it over a weekend. (Fingers crossed!)

You are always welcome to have a wrenchfest at my place.
Any idea when you'd like to do the install?

Matt....it sounds like you have too much free time. I still have dried mud from last year's Henniker class VI trail run from following whacko Jeepers who crashed all the mud puddles. "What could possibly go wrong?". Any time you need some busy work, come on over. I even have a lift, so you could clean the frame rails.

Too much free time is only half of the problem . . . the other half is that I'm nuts. Don't forget that I'm the guy who polished his skid plates and replaced his 1-year-old Bilstein shocks because they looked too rusty:

Let me check schedule and try to find something on a Sat/Sun that won't interfere with anything you want to go to. springs and shocks Lift, Front Sways discos and evap armor shouldn't take all day.

Any weekend days you know you'll be home in May?
