Keeping the brake lines away from the wheels.

Unread post by Jonas »

Hi,

With the lift I just installed I also installed longer brake hoses. They are long and floppy and since the nut on the hard line was all corroded I couldn't really select the optimal twist of the hoses. Needless to say my left front brake hose started rubbing agains the inside of the wheel. Fortunately I caught it before any real damage was done, and after some bending and extra zip ties, I think I am fine for now.

The question is if there is a trick to it. Seems like some kind of elastic holding it away from the wheel would make sure it never happens again. My backspacing is probably on the high side at 5.7, so that may be a problem too.

The other thing I was thinking of was to reroute them such that there is a hard line along the axle and hose between the body and somewhere in the middle of the axle, and between the axle a caliper.

Any suggestions?

I use thin bungee cords to keep mine away from the tires/wheels.

Some will go to auto parts or on line and get small diameter springs about 4" long. Very soft retention . Ziptie to brake line and frame. When suspension moves , so does the spring. FjR68
