By the way, does anybody want these tube steps? Figured I'd ask before they head to the scrap yard. Someone with more skills than me could cut off the steps and weld on some better frame mounting brackets, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. I figured I'd ask since powder-coated steel tubing isn't cheap.

I'd be happy to haul them to the member BBQ next month and just give them away to anyone who wants them.

Would be great to find another opportunity to fire up my wings fryer. I'm huddling with a couple of people who have interest in doing a weekend in the woods to talk and test recipes, gear and techniques. More overlanding than hardcore off-roading, but it might appeal to a few people in BSJ. If it comes together, I'll post it up in the members section.

I have a few ideas but I think the twin cannon idea, although right up my alley, may have to wait until I can find a turret to mount them to. Is that a 2 burner camp stove in the pic? We are looking for a smaller one as the Camp Chef 3 burner one we have is too large. We are looking at the Everest and the Summit for smaller ones. Know any one looking for a large 12 person 3 room cabin tent?

I don't know how much overlanding you plan on doing but have you looked at the Trans New Hampshire Expedition? 3 days and 500 miles. And if you're cooking food like that I'll follow you anywhere! Haha...

I signed up for the TXNH trek this year . . . and then found out I had a piano recital, birthday party and two soccer games to attend that weekend. It was PAINFUL to cancel my RSVP. I'm going to try again with the Vermont Overland Rally at the end of September.

For the past two years, I have been working to build my overlanding equipment and skills. Now I just need to find some great places to disappear off the grid for a week. Easy to do in Utah, but not easy to do in New England. Here's a short video clip of a great spot I found in the White Mountains with my son last month . . .

I purchased the route GPS info and guides for the TNHX and have been wanting to do the route. Getting the people together and everyone's time to line up has been a battle.

Well, I have proved that I would never get hired by a auto body repair and paint shop, but I finally got the stock Rubicon rails back on. The stock rails do a really good job of hiding the damage. I layered some neoprene washers between the stainless washers where the bracket attaches to the painted body panels. But hopefully it never matters. The DOM rock sliders go on in two weeks!

A friend of mine who has the White Knuckle sliders sent me a few photos of them in action. Will definitely be an improvement over the N-FAB tube steps!

I have the Rock Hard 4x4 tube sliders. I love 'em! They have saved my bacon (not to mention my Jeep) several times. The stock Rubi rails just bolt to the pinch seam, and aren't really strong to begin with. Something that bolts to the frame is the best choice.

This project is done! The new rock sliders are on. 60 pounds each. Won't help mpg, but hopefully I won't have to worry about taking any more body panel damage. They are mounted with bolts into the frame and fit nicely under the stock Rubicon rails.
