It was used by the USPS and other delivery services. Same wheelbase/chasis/drivetrain as CJ. There was also a very rare automatic transmission option.

why did the USPS get rid of all the cool looking postal service cars??

Because we have more mail now. :lol:

I have seen one or two in junkyards over the years. They are VERY small inside. That dude in the picture probably weighs about 120 lbs. They probably hold half as much as a Grumman LLV (modern mail truck).

They were area drop boxes used by the P.O. for the door to door mail-men

You can still find them... They're usually dark green instead of blue and they don't have a hatch on top to insert mail.
