Teraflex Belly Up Skid Plate w/o body lift

Going to be installing a Terraflex belly up skid plate in my '03 TJ

1) Wondering if a body lift is a must or can I get away without one? According to the install instructions it is optional, but wanted to gather some first hand feedback.
2) Has anyone had Shift Linkage Binding issues?

You could always try the bellyup, see if it fits ok, and go from there... OR, you could go with a body lift (1" should be fine), combined with a Motor Mount Lift (JKS makes some simple block spacers that are really easy to install), which would likely elimate any issues. The MML would help get your driveline back to a better angle, as the bellyup without anything else could certainly give you some vibes.

One thing to note for the MML is that you need to relocate your fan shroud a bit. The BL and MML are really simple, and can be done in a couple of hours with the right tools.

And on the shift linkage.... easy to adjust, and there is a bracket you can get if the simple adjustment doesnt work.

I've had the bellyup for a couple years now w/o a body lift. I think I may have had to 'adjust' some metal here and there; I think the tranny may have been making contact with a rib on the top of the skid that needed a little cleanup with a grinder. I may have also used a hammer on the tub to make a little room, not noticeable from within the jeep though.

Keith - Will I still need to install the MML even if I have a SYE installed? I would like to avoid installing a MML & BL if I can.
Mike - Did you have to cut your muffler mount?

Was the extra clearance worth the trouble?

If you have an SYE you should not need a MML unless you have a BL.

I don't remember cutting the muffler mount, but it certainly shoved up the entire exhaust. I would absolutely say it was worth it; it seemed like I gained 2 inches where it counted.

We've had a 1" BL and a 1" MML since the Rubi was a month old. Installed a Tera belly up and Skid Row engine skid 4 years ago. You do not have to modify the fan shroud if you install the MMl and BL at the same time.
After the belly up was installed the vibrations started, minimal at the time with just a BB. We then went with 3" BDS springs and it was so bad you couldn't drive it. (keep in mind...the Rubi has a fixed yoke TC)
Ended up with a TW CV shaft. No more vibes.
