8.8 swap into TJ
Doing an 8.8 swap into my kidinlaws TJ. (06) Daily driver and woods. TJ has sway bar in front and 8.8 is in rear. Will I need the sway bar at all and which bar have we used in your swap. Any one need a 410 welded carrier or axle shafts for a Turdyfive ? FjR68

The early tj's didn't come with a rear bar. Off-road it helps to keep the axle from just dropping fast and possible throwing u over. On road takes some roll out. Try without if sucks add one. Don't disconnect front if don't have rear you'll be doing body work

I ran my first TJ without a rear sway bar for a couple months. Didn't notice much difference on the street, but in the trail, off camber stuff got sketchy to me. I hooked it up again and won't disconnect the rear again. It's small enough in diameter to provide a bit of control, but still allow for decent articulation.

They don't recommend one with the clayton long arm. I currently don't have one but not enough experience yet to have an opinion.

With my 4 link rear , The CJ works awesome off road. I do have to respect street turning. I have gotten used to it but a kid might not use the same control. Im going to install the stock bar on it , its tiny and should be of some help . The 8.8 bar is thicker but would have to reconfigure the links so Im just gonna put the stock one on. How about Park brake cables ? Any company make them for this conversion or do you have to get creative ? Its a Ma. registered Jeep so I will need to install something . Thanks FjR68

According to my notes to put an 8.8 in a TJ you can use:

I dont remember which of the sites I was poking around on today searching out E-Brake cables for my lited TJ but I saw cables to go from the stock TJ to Ford 8.8, was one of the following I think, Quadratech, 4wd, or Summit.
'97 thats been chopped up and put back together, and ready to take on the trails.

Kurt , those numbers brought us to other numbers that brought us to cables that fit , right down to the brackets on them to bolt to the control arms. Outstanding ! Almost done with this project , every thing is tacked ,pulling it out again to burn it in . FjR68

You guys are awesome . This Airtec truss and brackets kit is fantastic. Every part fit like a glove. Had the axle under the Jeep to mock up , tacked everything , pulled it , Welded all joints and tubes to center. Ready to bolt in. At the same time did a 4" spring change out and adj. track bar in front (courtesy of Ryan) and just waiting for assistance to slide it under again and bolt her up ! Doing a SYE also . Almost son-inlaw , I volunteered , What a bone head I was. FjR68
