Spill kits

Unread post by ImNotCassie »

I read about spill kits on another forum. Does anyone in BSJ carry these. We should, even if it never gets used, it would be good to have. At least one per run .... two if group is large. Im going to put s small one together and keep it in my jeep. Some of the oil only mats/socks get expensive.

Cassandra,

Yes - BSJ does own a comprehensive spill kit.
I had the kit when I was DOT and then passed it onto the next DOT. Not sure who has it presently... hopefully Ralph does.

Nope! Nothing was passed on to me. Good idea though.

I just checked. Jeff C. had it and then passed it on to Duncan Wood. Not sure Duncan passed it on...
Still looking into it to see if I can track it down.

I will certainly add some oil pads to my box and would be happy to provide Ralph a small stack (prob 10-15) of the square pads for the club as well. Between that and some kitty litter it should handle quite a bit other than coolant just based on volume.
'97 thats been chopped up and put back together, and ready to take on the trails.

It might be a good idea just to invest in a new spill kit. The one I had when I was DOT was fairly bulky and took up most of the room behind the seat in the TJ. I did ping Ryan who may still be in contact with Duncan, but IIRC the spill kit that was passed on to me was fairly old and I would imagine the technology in spill cleanup has come a long way in the past 10 years or more since the kit was purchased....

Both Jim N & Mark G have spill kit supplies so it doesn't look like there is a need to purchase any more.
