Ralph, last year I sent an email to Gaia explaining how I was scouting roads in NH and was interested in their mapping app. I asked if they had a discount code available that i could use, a lady wrote back offering 5 free downloads so I could try their app and share with a couple others. Might be worth sending an email to whichever company you are interested in, explain what you are doing and if they would offer a discount. Let them know you would like to try the software and then share your experiences with other off road in enthusiasts.
