this is the gas tank skid. Instruction sheet wasn't very clear to me but I have little experience. By little I mean none but I'm trying to learn. Is it too much work for one day? I certainly don't want to inconvenience anyone.

I need to pull the steering wheel on my Jeepster to replace the turn signal switch (you know so the blinker shuts off occasionally LOL)
I can likely get us into Wayne's to do the skid's and diff cover changes.... Don't think either project will take too long...

According to the manual, Dana 30 & Dana 44 take the same 80W-90, 3.5 Qrts should do it. I read good things about Royal Purple. Anybody have other ideas on brand or anything. Besides the gaskets and oil should I be picking up anything else?

I have very high marks for RP, I have talked to local reps several times and even purchase it for work.
There IS a difference from what you buy at your local auto parts store to what the reps can sell in the industrial world. I will check tomorrow and see if I have any 80-90 for ya. The additive package is SO much better over the ones sold in stores as it only has about half of the true additives of the real royal purple due to the necessity of lower emissions and such from the vehicles.

Re: More Skids ...
Thanks. It surprises me that the product is different depending on where it's sold. Good to know.pirahnah3 wrote:I have very high marks for RP, I have talked to local reps several times and even purchase it for work.

Re: More Skids ...
The difference is in the additive package and the intended use as dictated by the DOT. They wanted all of the heavy metals and other items removed from the waste oil as well as emissions produced so they regulated the oil that can go into vehicles so that the production is less in the waste or expelled product. However in industry they dont have the same regulations on the products.

Re: More Skids ...
Cassandra,
Unfortunately I am going to have to cancel our scheduled work day on you Jeep. I've had to travel south due to health issues with my elderly parents and have no idea when I may b ack north. Hopefully another club member can give you a hand with getting your skids installed.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Not a problem at all, Kurt. Family comes first.
