my new to me 1971 Jeepster

Unread post by Hoodoo Man »

I just took delivery of a 71 Jeepster commando! Main reason I picked it up was it came with a hardtop which I have needed for my 70 Jeepster for a while. The body overall on it is surprisingly good (even better than my 70 in some ways). I got it for a song and I am highly considering turning it into my new trail rig. The motor is seized and partly missing, the floors under the driver/passenger are swiss cheese and there is a bunch of other stuff missing but I have a potential donor rig from soup to nuts... It came with a spare drivers side fender to replace the slightly mangled one there now.

end goal would to be to put in a lift and reuse as much of my TJ as possible, might slap a CJ hood on it just to make it that much more unique...

this would be akin to the end goal... 8-) :bluesbros:

I'd be up for wrench days when the warm weather season slows down for the year.

As long as the red Jeepster stays reliable I will be driving it down to GAJR. Plan is to DD it as much is practical and work out any remaining kinks as I go... I do need to pull the steering wheel and replace the turn cancellation switch... I'm look at the green one as a winter / off season project, got to do some research and figure out what fits in the bay etc and start collecting parts. Want to pull the tub, clean the frame and box it (mainly C-channel now), then either put in the long arms from the TJ or get the appropriate springs for it if it stays leaf... I cant imagine the green jeepster being on the road before the spring unless I swap the dauntless for a new dauntless and even then it needs a lot of little parts...
