New Guy from Boston

Unread post by bodhi »

Just wanted to introduce myself,

I just joined the forum and the club, really glad to be here. Hoping to slowly do some light mods to my XJ. In the mean time I hope to be able to shoot some photos/video at the club events and trails and soak up the atmosphere and knowledge.

You can call me Bodhi, Red or Mark. I can answer to all three.

We have several Mahk's but only one Marky! Or am I Mahky? Either way, I can call you Mark because there's little chance I'd confuse myself. (Notice I didn't say no chance...)

Anyway, you're also welcome to shoot pics and vids all you like. Carl would love to see some of those pics for the newsletter! Any time you want to hop in with another driver, just ask if there's a seat available, and it's yours. (Yes, I read your app!)

Thanks for the welcome everyone. The trail ride was a blast on Saturday.

XJ Goals: I am hoping to very slowly ease myself into any upgrades, I think that would be a little ways off yet as I learn/observe on the club runs, research and of course budget. Maybe protecting the squishy bits underneath first would be my direction. I have always had the itch to off road, but the closest I got was with an ATV I had for a few years. A lot of great memories getting stuck in boot sucking mud.

Details: While this 2000 XJ is the 4th Jeep in my car career, (all were stock, previously owned a 98 XJ, 05 TJ - the one I regret selling, 11 JK) it is still pretty new to us. So far the 'upgrades' have been replacing the purple hood with a proper body paint matching black hood and fixing a few gremlins here and there. It has a bit over 204,000 miles on it, and the frame and body are in nice condition. My wife and I have talked, and it is a possibility that I will keep an eye out for a used XJ/TJ/JK that has been modified a bit and is a little more trail ready. So everyone keep your eyes out!

Personal Goals:
Short term - learn, be patient, and hopefully get some quality photos and video with the club
Long term - have a bad ass jeep that I can drive skillfully :handgestures-thumbupright:

We have guys and gals in the club that have minimum amounts of mods and it doesn't stop them from wheelin the heck outta them. Youll get the hang of it. Sounds like a good game plan youve set for yourself. Ive had my 74 CJ-5 for 14yrs. and Ive done at least one big mod every winter. See how it works and through the next year figure out whats next or fix this or that. Thats what God made the winter for, Right ? FjR68

Welcome!
We had a stock 98 XJ with oversized tires for years with over 230k miles. We just sold it last Fall 2015.. the kid who bought it already lifted it, etc.. and it makes me miss it TERRIBLY!

I have used Bodhi as my online handle for a long time, and Bodhi is also my dogs name. It is helpful especially when there are a lot of Marks. There always seems to be at least two.
