This is my first Jeep that I've bought. I bought it new in April 2014 as a DD and had no intention on modding it but the bug got me. I've now decided to make it as nice as possible in preparation for my oldest daughter driving it in a few years. I have offroad experience only in HD trucks, not in Jeeps. I have taken it mildly offroad only until I can fully strengthen the front axle. I'm big into learning as much as I can about Jeeping and it's capabilities. Thanks for having this outlet and I hope to help as much as I can.

Hey Grump :) That bug is really catchy . There is no cure so dont bother trying to find one. I wheeled a 79 F-150 short bed and thought , man this thing goes anywhere . What you have now will just flat out amaze you compared to your other vehicles . I still after (12yrs.) look at stuff and say , no way a car is going up that . Well we do ! I think a Jeep is one of if not the best off road vehicle shy of a tube rig. Cant wait to meet you on a trail or at a meeting. Mine is a 74 with a couple mods and still workin on it. FjR68

Hey Grumpfish,

Welcome!

If you're taking it mildly off-road equipped the way it is, then I gotta tell ya, you're missing out on a tremendous amount of fun. My 2012 JKU is, except for skids, stock and I'm having a ton of fun on trails that are far from mild. Street tires, no left, 3.73, no lockers. You need to get out with us to really see what a Jeep can do. Drive the heck out of it the way it is and build as you break. That's the only way you'll learn.

Welcome! Take your Jeep out! When i joined 5 years ago, I went out with just a lift and tires. I still don't have anything crazy. Stock bumpers, barely any skids, and even those plastic steps!

I still run a stock Dana 30 up front without additional bracing however I only run 33's and an ARB locker.
I would say come out and play as there are typically easy go-arounds on the trails we do . You will have the option to explore the capabilities of both your vehicle and yourself.

So where is everyone from? I'm South Shore. Whitman to be exact. I run a lot of the beaches down the Cape but want to branch out.

Well I just paid my dues for membership so hopefully I get a spot in the club. As for being bitten by the bug, Frank, it's a "jump in with both feet" thing for me. I've planned my build in stages in a short period and the hardest part is trying to jump ahead to something else. I have a picture in my head of what I want it to look like in the end, but is there really ever "an end"? I never planned on doing anything to it and I promised my wife the same but it lasted about 3 months and I was on my way. It's a blast to drive and I find myself on these warmer winter days kicking myself for putting the hard top on too soon and wishing it was April to start taking the doors off and running to the store to pick up something just to drive it.
