Shes ALIVE !

Unread post by Frank »

Mona has not run since last Dec. 7th OSJ toy run. Since the coolant was getting into the oil pan I needed to find out why. Pulled the head and disassembled it. Took it to the machine shop to be dunk tanked and magna fluxed . A thing they do to find cracks. Nothing , It checked good. So while the head was out I felt compelled to , say , freshen it up. I had the valve seat removed and bored them to fit , (cough-cough) Chevy 2.02 and 1.95 swirl valves from a fuelie Vette small block. I had to do the same to the block as the head checked out good. Once magnafluxed , and checking good there was only one thing to do. Freshen it up ! This is where it got fun. Bored .30 over to clean her up, 86 pistons on 74 crank and rods have a deck height of .43* higher, at the same time taking .57* off the block ,.60 off the head made for a jump in comp. from 8.6 to 9.3 . Engine dyno numbers are stated at 270 hp & 360 lbs/ft. at 3300 rpm. Should make all of that now. Started it tonight and have run it between 1500 and 2200 rpms through three heat cycles. Will re-torque it after tomorrows run ! Yes , Im going to the next run. FjR68 Yippee Cayay MF !

All I can say is , Thank you for 14 Snow Storms ! Might get the chance to take her out for a ride tonight . Almost as good as having sex ! Can I say sex on the site ? Turns out "Felpro" Has addressed the 4.0 head on a 4.2 block with a different head gasket . They made the valve galley side a little different! Thank you very much. They expressed the importance of re--torquing after several heat cycles. I can do that . FjR68

Just put her back together AGAIN ! Chasing an oil leak from the rear main seal. I ran that hoe in the garage through 9 heat cycles over 9 days and not a drip anywhere . Went 3.7 mi. for new gas and a bike store for Mommas bike. When I came out there was a 8" puddle of oil on the ground. Looked around and convinced myself it was already there . Got home , left her runnin and went to open her door. Came out and guess whats under the Jeep ? Yup , OIL ! So I put her in there and shut the door. Went on vacation and attacked her yesterday. Replaced the rear main seal and pan gasket , put new go juice in her and fired that motha up. Took her for a ride with the Stick and finally SHE Lives ! Cant wait , gonna put some miles on her for break-in today and see what happens. (holding my breath) See you soon. FjR68
