Looking for local Fabricator/Welder
Not sure if this is the right section to post this in, but looking for a local fabricator/welder in the Taunton area that comes recommended. My swing out rear tire carrier basically snapped off. The large bolt it used to swing on snapped in half a few years ago and it's about time I get a spare tire back on the rig. I have the swing out part, they would just need to fabricate (or extract and reuse) the old bolt hole, but it was always a bit 'off' so fabricating a new one might work better??? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jeff
Thanks

Hey Jeff
I think I have an old front wheel unit bearing from my old YJ. Seems like you could weld the swing on one side, then weld the other side to the bumper. I also have a welder. If you want to come up we can take a look at it, maybe we can make something work.

Re: Looking for local Fabricator/Welder
Thanks Don, but I was hoping baystate was still around in Middleboro. Looking to drop off one day and pick up next. Seems like a simple fix for someone that's fabricated a few bumpers already. Need to 'tweak' the swing part where the bolt it and add a latch system. Had the latch, but it's been a few years so it's probably buried in the garage somewhere.
Thank for the offer, I'll keep it in mind if no shops pop up.

Yeah, I think Baystate's been gone for a couple of years now.
You might talk to this guy http://www.renswelding.com/
his website says he does steel buildings, but he might be able to help.
Or this guy

Re: Looking for local Fabricator/Welder
Go to Tractor Supply and buy the biggest axle spindle they have. Its an 1.25 or 1.5 . Like 44 buks. It shouldnt have been a bolt to begin with. It was probably a spindle and it snapped off to look like a bolt. You would either have to grind off the weld and drive the broken one out or drill another hole beside it. I would help you , but im in Enfield.Ct. . FjR68

Don, I forgot about that guy and I lived with relatives while building our new house literally right down the street from Rens.
Used to drive past it everyday to and from work.
Called them, but nobody will be in the shop tomorrow, so I'll swing by one day next week.
Thanks again.

Good luck. When are we going to see you on the trails? Jared should be big enough now to enjoy it.

Re: Looking for local Fabricator/Welder
Don, not sure, Jared is in too many sports/ travel teams.
This year it should be interested, I think a few of his baseball and soccer games are going to be the same day.
As for the LJ, I need to start some TLC. Haven't had a spare on it for about 3 years now I think and I'm sure there are other things that would need attention before wheelin again.
Plus I sold my Walker Evans bead locks and Nitto Mud grapplers.

Re: Looking for local Fabricator/Welder
I get that, Jeff, if you weren't going to wheel it, no point in wearing them out on the highway. Gonna have to work some O T shifts to replace them.
I've got a long list for my JK, too. New central crossmember, complete new exhaust from headers back, engine skid, muffler skid, need an EGR valve replacement. Just waiting on the weather, although I may take MHorn up on his offer of a heated garage some weekend. I really need to get that EGR done, inspections coming up so I need to clear that CEL.
