Unfortunately, the current frame is junk, having seen it.
Used frames are also used frames, and it's like replacing a Dana 35... It will be temporary. The 97-02 frames are simply junk. (Remember when every used Old Cutlass from 78-86 had a rear bumper held on with ropes or replaced with a piece of wood?) I have seen people replace them with rust free frames and the new frame rusts pretty quickly, because it still has the same completely crappy design and construction. Layers of laminated steel allow crap to get in there, between the layers, right at the holes in the frame where the paint is cracked, and voila - rotted frame.

I would get an aftermarket frame or get an 03-06 TJ if it has to be a TJ. The Throttle Down Frame can be ordered with out brackets, if I am not mistaken, ready for you to locate your long arms.

Stay with them and look at the high line fender option for the front and we can relocate your rear flat fenders higher, cut some unwanted sheet metal and drop it a couple inches ! Done deal , I like the way you come up with this stuff on a blink ! FjR68
Have you seen my TJ Frank? I've been running the MCE flexible flares for a couple of years and can likely stuff 40s under it as it sits in front... ;)

The rear would take some plasma work possibly.... :bluesbros:

Maybe bump stops would prevent rub into the tub...

I have a line on a custom built frame that I am looking into. Will be sending a PM to a few people to get their thoughts on the design etc. :bluesbros:

Jeeps Unlimited in RI has a TJ frame for sale for $1,000. A few pictures on FB on their page. Can't tell the rust at the read wheel area, but may be worth looking at.

As you can see, I commented on it asking about rust in the general area. They replied with : "there is no damage in great condition. little rust" .. Who knows..

8-) Jeep peeps are the best peeps. A friend of Backwoods farm is setting up a new custom fab shop and has been working on plans for building TJ frames. CAD work is all completed and he needs a beta tester. 8-) Getting a brand new custom frame made of box tube 2x4x3/16" painted and sealed inside to avoid rust with DOM 1'/4" for braces. he will fish plate all of the joints and has a structural engieer designing the frame in CAD. Will include a rear drop tire carrier integrated into the frame. I will be paying for the raw materials and such and he gets a test mule that is wheeled hard. :music-rockout:

Going to go LCG and 1" BL and probably 2.5" coils and I may stretch the front a little to get a better approach angle. As a cancer survivor he is very appreciative of what we are doing and is doing me quite a solid in return. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Cool!
Any outlook when you may have the beta test frame in hand to start the swap?

I will be bringing the Jeep to him and they will be doing the swap for me. :bluesbros:

Theyve done a lot of fab work already, so I'm pretty confident that they know what they are doing. Oh the frame is also an inch or so narrower than stock so there is more room for shocks and its ready to be comp cut in the rear if I ever want to be like THE Kurt. ;)
