I picked up a 96 XJ Cherokee Country yesterday.
147k miles.
4.0L auto.
D30 and 8.25, no ABS.
Black, unlike my coffee.
It's rusted in all the places I'll cut off during the build anyway and part of the floor is a little too soft.
I have always wanted a Country edition.
This has all the power stuff it should, but oddly enough, no skid plates, no window tint, no leather.power seats and it came with the country wheels but the wicked small 215/75R15 tires and chrome/silver on black.
It is equipped more like a Laredo than a country.
Most importantly, the body is straight and it's an automatic.
Third gear was getting really noisy on my white truck, and I've been getting sick of the lunch box lockers (especially the front) and 5 speed combo, which is wicked hard on joints, steering, motor mounts, trans mounts.
The white one still runs and I will keep it that way for a while before I start using the parts on the new black one.
