Unread post by Frank »

So I finally found a right side drop 44 front end. WhoooHooo ! Is there a way to get to 5x5.5 (Another model) or should I just put my 30 spindles and outers on it ? Thanks FjR68

I used 91 ford hubs and small bearing spindles (the ford hubs won’t fit the large bearing spindles). You can buy new small spindles Spicer PN 706528X or they can be had on any '74-'76 FSJ or '73-'76 chevy You can also machined down a large spindles. You will need the correct wheel bearings as well.

The 44 has internal hubs an improvement other the external hubs on a D-30.
Yes, the FSJ and Chevy small spindles will fit your D-30 knuckles.
The hubs do not stick out past the tire on a 10.50 wide tire

Below (link) is my front NT cherokee 44 I installed on my CJ5. I cut 4” off the diverside and I chose to use 44 knuckles to clear the aftermarket diff cover ( you can use D-30 knuckles).

I believe I covered most of your questions within a couple pages (19-20) of my thread below however, if you have any other questions post up and I'll do the best I can to answer. Hope this helps.

Side note: page 4 has the axle tube cut down process.
