Roll bar hi lift mount

Unread post by Baseshakers »

Thinking about mounting my hi lift between the roll bars behind the front seats. Any downsides? Recommended mounting tricks? It's been living underneath the rear seat disassembled for years now, but since the seat is gone...

Here are a few pic of my setup.

Just some "U" shaped aluminum stock, 4 hose clamps, two bolts and a pair of wing nuts, and a pair of pins to keep the wing nuts from backing off by themselves. The "U" stock keeps the head of the bolt from spinning as you put the wing nut on and off.
I put a small loop of rope where the top of the high lift mounts. I use it to temporarily hold that end of the jack up as I fasten or unfasten the base end.

I've also seen people use exhaust pipe clamps on the roll bar instead.

sweet! I knew you had a good setup. not that I was actually going to spend the $$$, but Q-tec's "solution" is over $80... wow. yours can be made for about $5.

On a friend's YJ we used two exhaust clamps, I think 2.5", on each side of the tail gate end.
Each clamp was bolted to the roll bar and tightened.
One end of each u-bolt was trimmed down, so one stud was longer. Then wing nuts were used.

HiLift makes tubing mounts, though.
TM-750 is adjustable for tubing 2"-3" in diameter. If this is the $80 solution you found... SHOP AROUND.
