Mona

I finally got to drive the mini beast. You know , I should have stopped building her 5 yrs. ago ! Anyway this is the question. Went 4 link rear with coils. Drives straight , no torque steer from the rear at all ! (YAAAAA) Feels really soft . Leans in a corner, did I say soft. Dont know what the coils were made for but were brand new and free. I cut 1 and a quarter coils off for ride height to match the front. Have the shocks mounted on fab mounts 4" outboard of spring mount center on the axle and a 50 degree tilt on them to a cross-member. Question ? Do you think its just spring rate that makes it feel like that ? I have a pair of TJ 4.5" lift springs I could cut and install. They must be a stiffer rate as the wire is thicker than whats installed now. It dont bounce down the road so I dont feel like its a shock issue. Do you feel like its a sway bar issue ? Never had to worry about that before. Thanks FjR68

Unless you put in anti-swaybar it is likely going to feel that way. In my XJ, disconnected, I can definitely feel a difference when I'm driving on the street at speed / going around corners.

Stiffer springs might help, but you'd likely be giving up flex. It may be easier to figure out some kind of anti-sway bar solution... Maybe air bags for on-road use to stiffen up the springs / deflate for off-road use?

Glad to hear Mona is back on the road... err offroad!

I'd highly recommend an antirock (http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestor ... px?id=1234) You can pick up a universal kit with the proper width. Having a soft sway bar front and rear on my rig means it stays nice and level and yet still flexes like crazy.

Joe : Your the best ! Thanks guys, I saw in Q-Tech mag a sway bar from Addco for my year. Its listed for the front but I do have a straight frame so I figure it would fit the rear. Having not driven her for a really long time I guess I was just feeling all her quircks for the first time --- Again ! Its not a bad as I thought. Im going to try her out this weekend at The phone store . Might try the other springs also. Soooooo freakin excited ! See ya in two weeks. FjR68
