So after increasing the preload by 15 thou (it took a good beating to get it in!) I took this pattern.

I think it looks pretty good, but what do you guys think?

15k ? Wow , It must have come out with no tools ? The pattern looks better that the last one you posted. Did you check the pinion preload while the carrier was out ? Should be 20 in. pounds on new shims and up to 23 on used shims. Thats rotating the pinion without the carrier and in. lb wrench on the pinion nut. It looks better overall. franky, it actually took some prying to get it out, it just took a lot more beating to get it in after adding the extra shims! pinion felt perfect when i checked it by hand (i know, i know, my hand isn't perfectly calibrated but still...)

good to see you too! now let's get mona back out on the trail!
