Might be the float and arm floating around . That could be the fuel gauge thing. Thats the only thing that actually is connected by just a pivoting arm. The fuel pump is mounted to the tube running to the bottom of the tank. It might be swinging around. Have someone else move the car while your under it to see if its a blown shock rubber or something else under it. Have you looked up a pic of the sending unit? It will help decoding what I said. Frank, I was wondering that too. I will eventually pull the tank over the summer and check things out, but its reasonably strong on starts now so I hate to spend on the new pump. I have seen the diagram and I have replaced two TJ pumps, so I have a decent feel for the look and issues.
Time will tell, if I am sitting in a lot with a dead fuel pump... I am sweet talking the truck so far, so hoping for the best.
