Aluminum Welding Recommendation
I need a minor repair done to my snowmobile trailer.
Can anyone recommend a place to get some aluminum welding done?
Northeast Mass or Southern NH area would do.

Re: Aluminum Welding Recommendation
East Coast Welding does aluminum. Sears sells spools of .030" if you feel comfortable trying it.

Re: Aluminum Welding Recommendation
I have a spool of .030 and the special AL gun liner for my Lincoln. Couldn't get it to feed right or weld correctly.
Would prefer a pro make the fix with a proper AL welding setup.

Re: Aluminum Welding Recommendation
Try on NEOW... Someone on there would either do it or know where to take it.

Thanks Jon. I checked with Lou, no suggestions.
Just posted up on NEOW.

Re: Aluminum Welding Recommendation
I saw the posts on NEOW... I met Steve a few years ago at a DWE trail run. Seemed like a good guy. I've driven by his place in Hudson on 3A a number of times.Kurt wrote:Thanks Jon. I checked with Lou, no suggestions.

I've done business with Welch Welding also, but only to buy steel from them or to get some trailer parts. I think Willard's in Hudson is closer than their place in North Chelmsford.

Re: Aluminum Welding Recommendation
I guess using "Alumaloy" yourself is probably out of the question ... ? I don't know much abut welding in general, much less aluminum welding ... if you're talking about using "spools of .030", then I guess it's probably not even close to being the right thing for the job. Just a thought.

Re: Aluminum Welding Recommendation
I looked at allumaloy back when I cracked it and ruled that product out.
I need a good strong weld done. Nothing mickey-moused.
Selling the trailer and want to know it's "all good" before I sell it. I couldn't sell it knowing there is a crack in a weld.
For now I'll avoid Welch welding. Had them do a tiny job for me about 15 years ago and they charged a fortune for it.
It was that experience that caused me to buy my own mig welder

Re: Aluminum Welding Recommendation
Kurt : Id have them Tig weld it if they can. Its a lot stronger and less heat involved. You should be able to mig with a mix of 65% argon and35% Co2 . Try to borrow someones spool gun , instead of feeding the Al wire through your hose. FjR68

Re: Aluminum Welding Recommendation
For now I'm going to give Willards a try.
Several NEOW'rs gave him strong recommenations for his work with Aluminum fab work.
Frank - I did buy the special liner, etc to convert my setup to do AL.
Going to let a pro do the job. Too much at risk with a so-so welding job.
