Currie bump stop / retainer

Anyone have any experience with this? One of my springs made a break for it today. It didn't get far, but I need a better way to secure it. Was looking at this Currie system

More than I wanted to spend.... but who looks at Jeep parts and says "I wanted to spend more!"

Any thoughts / suggestions?

Got it. Love it.

Seriously though, I have not had a front spring fall out since I put them in, despite the 12" travel shocks up there. You can also easily tweak the bump stop height so the clearance will be just right for the tires. And there is no more lip (old cup style) for the spring to catch on as it cycles. Great kit.

I would make something to retain the spring.

Carl Zone off road sells a spring retainer clip for very short money to help keep springs seated.


that said I did break one of them wheeling at JF when my Jeep was at full droop last year, made a hell of a bang when it happened and I thought I broke something big. I don't think that would normally happen and for sure I need a limit strap or something to prevent my rear axle from drooping so much to begin with...

I use Clayton coil retainers which are beefy bolt on discs; cost was $39 with shipping. They give you 2 pairs that are meant to clamp the lower and upper part of the rear springs, but I used them to clamp down only the lower part of all 4 springs.

for the rear it is pretty easy to cut disks to retain the lower end of the spring (which is what i did). this can also be done in the front, but the fact that you can easily adjust the height and get rid of the cup drove me to the currie kit.

That's a real nice setup you have Ryan, didn't realize it was Currie. I have a wrenchin weekend planned, goin with Currie cause it also has the bumpstops I need. Gonna order those and the wheel balancers that worked out well for Chris. And do the rear drums on my XJ.
I hate drum brakes......
