The feedback I've seen is that the synergy HD ball joints aren't worth the money. But I just came across these other HD greaseless ball joints. I plan on changing out my original ball joints (with 100,000 miles) when I do some work on my front D30. I wonder if the Bone Fish ones are worth trying... What do you guys think? My first thought is that without a boot and grease, sand or grit will wear away at the ball joint.

I would go with Moog.

These BJ's run 200 a side! Not worth it for the tire size you have and the trails you run, IMO. $400.00! Yeowzers!

FWIW, I have 300lbs of wheel/tire up front and my Moogs have held up well. Granted, both are load bearing (Dana 30 upper is locating), but that shows the quality of Moog.

Moog is good They work for me with my little D 30 and 36s no issues I put them in 4 years ago and still going strong
I only have 240lbs of wheel + tire weight LOL

Moog is the way to go!! Did one side with them at least 6 years ago and they're still fine!

So after the Rausch Creek trip last spring, all my ball joints and steering joints were lose. I was able to retighten everything, but after only a few more jeep runs last year, the ball joints are starting to loosen again. It's not too bad now, but I figured they might not last too long if I have to keep tightening them. Is it typical to have to tighten ball joints a couple times a year?

If moogs can survive on John's rig for 6 years, I'm probably good to go.

Ball joints and tie rod ends all use cotter pins and castle nuts so the nuts shouldn't be backing off. That's one area I ignore torque specs and crank them down as tight as I can, and never back off the nut to have the cotter pin fit!

Moog isn't super cheap (around $45-$55 a ball joint) but they're supposed to have a lifetime warrenty. Just stay away from Autozone's joints!!!!!!
