winch for a trailer?

Unread post by Hoodoo Man »

My neighbor is a mechanic with a car trailer and he's agreed to let me borrow his trailer on an as needed basis for my heep as it sits most of the time. What we agreed to was that Id buy him a winch and let him know what days I need it and can pretty much borrow it at will aside from his trip to the salt flats with his race car. He does pick up the occasional clunker and need to drag it onto the trailer. What size winch is appropriate for a trailer? would an 8500Lb superwinch LP be good?

what do ya use, what you got, and what cha recommend? :)

thanks!

If he's pulling clunkers that roll, a 4-5K winch is plenty. But bigger is always better!
I mounted up a 4k Superwinch that I got a smoking deal on in my dad's trailer for those times the Model T Ford is being tempermental.
You can't bolt on experience!!!!!!
Function over form=4x4

I have a 79.00 Tractor supply 3k lb. winch on my trailer. I figgure if its that broken I could use a snatch block to assist . FjR68
