New Rubi from old wagon guy
Well, I was a member when I had my Cherokee, took a hiatus to build a VW Gti and Buell 1125R (needed speed fix). Now I'm getting back into wheelin with a new toy. Bought an '04 Rubicon that was babied from birth. Decided on a LCOG build at the most extreme. 35's w/ NO suspension lift. Did a body lift/motor mount lift in order to fit a tummy tuck. She's going to be running 35" (equivalent) Maxxis Big Horns, riding on TJ's 35" Maxxis Creepy Crawlers right now. Other mods in the works to maximize down travel, and it will have 5"s of up travel front/rear. Pics are in the works, but here is a teaser....

Yeah, fast toys are cheaper than big toys for the most part. I had an '89 Mustang that was pretty stout too. Here's a pic of it outside the FD today....

Re: New Rubi from old wagon guy
Yeah, TJ said it already... only trimming was the back of the rear fenders. Mods as it sits now are:
Treks front Tube Fenders w/ 4.5 flare
Treks Full rear Tube Corners w/ 4.5 flare
Treks Rock Rails w/ step
JKS BL and BMML
Kilby F/R Bumbers
Warn M8000 winch
Locker Bypass (F/R anytime, any speed)
Soon to Come:
315/75/16 Maxxis Big Horn's on stock Moabs w/ spacers
Winch Rope to replace older cable
Cab mounted winch control & moving winch solenoid box into engine bay
custom box/storage/puppy tray in back (rear seat has been gone since day 1)
Move locker pumps under driver seat ala TJ's set up
Tummy tuck
move front wheelbase forward an inch w/ adjustable CA's
Engine skid
Custom tire carrier on rear tailgate (yeah I know the tailgate will disintegrate under a 35")
TJ can fill in any blanks I left

Re: New Rubi from old wagon guy
Some little updates with my new wheels and tires.... 15x8 Procomp Xtreme Alloys wrapped in 35x1250r15 Radial Pitbull Rockers... No balancing and not a vibration, bump, and almost NO NOISE. The noise that is there is similar to an old fashioned Prop-Plane on final approach.
Re: New Rubi from old wagon guy
JP Magazine did articles about building a YJ on 40" tires w/o any lift in it back in 2008... Lots of cutting though...jpcamb wrote:Some expensive hobbies Welcome back. curious to see how you stuff the 35s into your TJ w/o a supesion lift...

After seeing that it would seem like 35" tires should be easy!

Re: New Rubi from old wagon guy
So, TJ and I fit his old Jeep Medic Belly Up on the Rubi.... the played in the dirt piles behind the shop. Found out that a stock Rubi on 35's flex's pretty well considering. So far so good, I can stuff F/R with minimal "rubbing" up front.
