231 alignment dowel... does this look like the right part?

Seeing that the 231 and 241 case halves have the same basic footprint, I ordered a couple 231 case alignment dowels. I don't remember what the dowels looked like when I installed my SYE, but does this look right? Seems a little larger then I expected.

It covers Washington's head, so it should fit pretty well.

Seriously, tap it in and see. The dowel should close a bit when it's in place. I don't have any case halves to check.

ended up buying a brass dowel, shaved it down just a bit and it fits perfect!

As Joe said the dowel you ordered looks right. The "C" of the dowel will close up when tapped into teh tcase half.

Not sure you want a brass dowel in there. Soild one I assume.
Really should be the ones your ordered and bolts inserted thru them securing the case halves together.

Only reason why I selected brass is because the one that wasn't missing was brass. The one I purchased has the same wall thickness, just had to cut the length by 1/4". Installed the brass dowel after reading Joe's and your post (hope they hold up)
