Small world

Unread post by Carl McFly »

On the hooky run today, Carol looks at my shocks and asks if they're OME. Yup, I sez

"Hey Rob, these are just like your old shocks"

Rob asks where I got them and sure enough, Rob had sold the shocks and springs to someone (on another forum). The other guy had plans to install them, but then life got in the way

So they ended up under my rig!

A long long time ago I had a red Jeep. I loved my red Jeep but the blue one was posted and wicked close to my dream 06 Blue Rubi. The red Jeep then had to get sold because my parents seemed to think that 3 Jeeps for one person was two too many (hahaha I have 3 now). I sold my red Jeep with out the carpet in it, I spoke with the red Jeep buyer a few weeks later and he said he got carpet from a guy's wifes Jeep north of Boston, a few minutes later he said the name of the carpet sender as Doug.
Yup Kelly's carpet is in my old TJ.

Stephen Wright said it best a long time ago. "Its a small world but I wouldn't want to paint it... "

It really is amazing how small the world is and how few degrees of separation we are from so many people... cant tell you how many people ive run into in the most random places thousands of miles from home..

Yep, happened to me when I helped Eve move up to her new place.....
Her landlord saw my box truck all lettered up for The Settle Shop and wondered what the heck? Turns out he used to live in Lunenburg and used to shop at my store!

Not sure why I put underware? Was talking to my mom before I posted who works in housewares....

Dahran, Saudi Arabia, 1990
small world story # 1: chatting with the Ops Sargeant, asked where he was from.
"Whitman, MA." he says.
"Oh yeah, my grandmother lives on Park St in Whitman"
"Which house?" he asks.
"#27, the big yellow house on the corner"
He tells me - "I live right across the street in that big white house"....

small world story #2 - same place, a couple of days later, talking to a National Guard NCO passing thru and asked where he was from
"Sanger, CA" he says
"Funny - I live there on Tamarack St"
"Oh - one of your neighbors was a bridesmaid in a wedding with my cousin a couple of months ago"
I ask "Who's your cousin", he says "Gloria Hernandez"
I said "No kidding - that bridesmaid was my wife"...
Pacifism is a shifty doctrine under which a man accepts the benefits of the social group without being willing to pay - and claims a halo for his dishonesty.

How about this.... my best friend's ex-husband started dating my son's father's ex high-school sweetheart? Found out a few months ago while dating a guy that I had lived two blocks away from for 5 years, not meeting him (of course) until I moved an hour away..... Oh and we just spent last weekend at her place on the lake - lol!!
