Bump stop extension

Unread post by Carl McFly »

I'll be installing my new(est) lift next weekend and I need bump stop spacers for my springs. Any recommendations? I know taking measurements is the best way to do it (shock travel, spring compression, etc) but I don't have that luxury. As a rule of thumb, would a 2" extension work with a 4" lift?

I think I have an extra set here if you want them.

I think Joe is right... Plan to flex the suspension in the driveway (not necessarily mine) and see if / where you need them.

i ended up removing the springs and flexing with a jack to check for tire clearance and shock travel. preferably you want the bumpstop to hit right before the tire rubs too hard to rotate and/or the shock bottoms out. i went with the currie setup as it gets rid of the cup so the spring doesn't hang up during suspension travel and is adjustable.

Carl -- I've got a Hi Lift and an engine hoist rated at 2 tons...Between them and a couple of floor jacks I'm sure we will be able to get your jeep flex... ;)
