Re: X-Mas in March!!!!! The Heep is gonna gain weight...
Finally a couple of dry days!!!!
Another visit from the Postman on Monday Got me a bunch of LED lights and an early TJ fuel filler
Yesterday I finished welding in all the parts I had tacked on Sunday, cut the rear light panels to size and measured out where to cut holes for the lights. I was going to start cutting holes but my 2.5" hole saw didn't like steel
Had to go to the hardware store in Fitchburg this morning to get a special paint for work. While I was there, I picked up a new 2.5" hole saw and another that's 2.75". Got my holes drilled out and the light panels tacked into place. Also got the removable side filler plates fitted and tacked to their mounting tabs. All that's left is to finish welding the light panel, drill & tap some holes, and slightly modify the TJ filler tube and I'll be ready to start grinding and finishing
Finally starting to look like something

And here we are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That ended up being a bit more of a project than I thought it would be
Those of you with '97-up XJs would be well ahead of the game going with JCR Offroad's quarter panels that have the light housings built in, then fabricating the upper plate and bar

I don't like it. It's too clean.
Now you're gonna have to actually paint the Heep to match.
