Sloppy Steering on my rig

Unread post by midniteryder »

On way home notIced steering got very sloppy and wheel was crooked to the right on hi-way. I just added AGR Super Pump & Box. What else could cause this issue? Thank you! :)

If you swapped your pitman arm to the new box, I would look at the retaining nut.

Also check the box mounting bolts and hardware. Might have worked loose.

If still sloppy have someone crank the wheel back and forth and watch all the steering components from the steering shaft on down to see where the slop is.

It aint the temp that keeps me away ! Yuall have seen me show up topless in any weather. My profession dont allow me much free tyme in this kinda weather. Usually my jeep is getting the latest upgrade that she really dont need , but Im sure it will make her better. The last two years I dont get started till feb or March as Im busy workin on the kids Ranger project ! This year Box the chassis,Fuel Injection and maybe stretch the rear out a bit. FjR68

My steering problems were:
1. re-tighten new AGR Steering Box
2.re-seat left front coil spring
3.re-position trac bar in outer hole
4.replace right outer tie-rod bar(was bent)
6.front end alignment

My Jeep is now handling perfect. Ride home from GG was not fun last Saturday!

I used to ask that question as well, often followed by a big smack across the face.

I love my AGR Box and pump --- my Jeep used to be all squirrelly over the road until I replaced the OEM box and pump with the AGR 2 years ago.

Plus it helps to be a much better driver than Rob is!

The ram assist in my buggy will use a drilled Toyota box and tractor 6" ram. I was going to just modify a stock box for my Heep, but may invest in a new HD box from one of those guys. I hate paying for crap though.
