HID KITS FOR YOUR CJ/TJ/JK

so im so excited i baught a HID conversion kit for the TJ and just got it in the mail today!!!! ITT ill be showing the installation and beam spread compared to the old ones.. this mod should be done by the end of the day so keep in check if your intrested

My kit includes:
HID 8000k kit
7" round headlight enclosures with projection lenses so i don't blind oncoming traffic
Hardware kit

if the beam spread makes it so it blinds oncoming traffic i plan on selling them, the seller ensured me that they wont so we will see

also checkout my electric fan conversion thread that should be up in a couple days... need to find time fo these projects

Just be careful that when you get it inspected they don't check the lights... They will fail your inspection if you have aftermarket headlights which don't have a DOT approved marker on them.

would you guys calm down.. JEEZ! lol i bought the projection headlights so that i WONT BLIND oncoming traffic im not a ricer i dont put hids in stock housings i know what im doing and trust me i hate guys that put hids in stock housings it looks retarded and is dangerous.. but anyways didn't get the project finished and probably wont for the next couple of days.. and i plan on selling them if the beamspread isn't what i want it to be and blinds others, not my goal i actually care about the oncoming traffic..

thanks for the headsup but i hope the guy i go to every year isnt that strict, if worse comes to worse i pop in the regulars for inspection time..

i think ill have the kit in and done Friday or maybe tomorrow... we will see how quickly i can put a transmission in my buddys jeep

why their safer than halogens and when i mean safer i mean if they are installed with the correct equipment but yes i do think that they should be banned in stock housings that are not meant to enclose HID's

yes franky, as a former optics engineer/lighting designer i need to at least throw in my opinion.

if you go with e-code (european) style beams instead of american (DOT) you get much less light above the cutoff line. in europe the majority of overhead roadside signs need to be illuminated by law, so there is no need for light to be in that portion of the beam. not so in the states. i have ecode lenses with 100/80W bulbs and no one ever flashes me. they are well aimed, so they actually look dimmer to most oncoming traffic.

the CCT of the light also makes a big difference. once you start talking about 5000K and up (halogen is about 3000K) the blue content of the light is distracting, and actually affects your rods and cones differently. (there's a huge issue about LED street lighting now because of this problem)

bottom line if you go HID go ecode and a low CCT, and you won't bother anybody. stick some crappy HIDs in stock DOT housings and everyone will hate you.

thanks for the info ryan ill look over the lights agin and see if they are e-code.. does it say it on them.. i know their not DOT and where do i find out the CCT

Another fun factoid I learned about ordering european spec lights... Don't order/install the light kits for right-hand drive cars (e.g. for the UK or Japan)... They will fit, but the lenses throw the light to the left and will blind oncoming cars in a left-hand drive application (and no, I didn't do this when I bought euro-spec lights for my Subaru Impreza back in the day).

HID's are in along with my electric fan and the hid's do not glare i have been driving around for the past 4 days with them in and no-one has highbeamed me i tryed to see if i could get blinded and the only way i can is if im like driving a honda s2000 or miata and they are directly infront of me... they light up everything just fine and i still need to take pictures for my fan install.. all the pics should be in soon, but im happy with them
