My (Michaela's) XJ had both "Full Time" and "Low Washer" . i pulled the washer connector off the bottle and just live with the Full Time light.
May put some E-tape over it soon though.

That two door looks clean.

First pic looks like Part Time & Check Engine?
Second pic looks like Brake & Low Washer?

What say ye Lord XJ :geek:

Image
Hard to say.... I know they put different icons in different locations from year to year and depending on what options it had.

Second pic, the yellow is "low washer" hard to say what the red ones are in either picture. But seeing as how the engines are running in both photos, and the pics are taken with doors open, I'd say the red ones are either "fasten belt" or "door ajar" type icons. Or possibly "brake" icon if the e-handle is only up a notch or so :ugeek: :ugeek:

And I agree with Joe, if the "low washer" light stays on with a full tank, just pull the connector

I don't see a tow hitch on the back so I'd doubt that it has the D44. On the up side, being an '87 odds are that it has the NON C-CLIP D35 so at least the wheel will stay put when a shaft snaps

No factory tow package = no D44.

ANOTHER STUPID QUESTION:

Thoughts on Grand Cherokees? Are they to difficult and expensive to lift? I would rather stay with an XJ but there are a LOT of WK's out there for sale cheap.

Image

Rusty's has a 4.5 lift for $1,500

I noticed that too, when I was looking for something for my kid a couple of months ago. I figured there must be a reason, so stayed away from them.

You do have to be careful about them - there were a couple of years there where they used a D44 with an aluminum pumpkin. I've heard that those are to be avoided

I just drove to Everett to look at a 97 2door XJ only to have the douche sell it from under me moments before I got there. The guy was inside sining the paperwork. I even called him when I was half way there, and he said "cool, It's waiting"

That sucks!

There are some WK lift kits, but not much in the way of bumpers / armor, the wheel wells are small and you can't regear them -- there is no aftermarket R&P for the front diff and the rear is a bit of an odd ball. The computers don't like different size tires / gears either, and they are a PITA/$$$ to adjust. Most are some flavor of full time 4WD, some don't have a low range t-case. The tranny isn't do--it-yourself maintenance friendly -- is a dealer only fluid change on some (they don't have tranny dipstick from the factory!).

The ZJs and the WJs are better supported with lifts and armor / bumpers, but they're still not as popular as the XJ... Front axle will be a LP D30, but the rear axle is a bit of a problem child -- D35 is common or the D44 has an aluminum pumpkin (and no one likes it). OTOH, you can get them with a decent factory V8. The ZJ (60" WMS to WMS) has the same track width and bolt pattern as the XJ and a 4 link front / leaf spring rear suspension, but the WJ has 65" WMS to WMS, a 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern and 4 link / coil suspension front & rear.

Well, no... Lost funding for this project AGAIN.

I'm not sure that I will make it back on the trail again w/ my own rig for some time. Lets just say I'm in the building industry and it's getting slower by the day.

We all know that this sport takes some dough to do it right and I'm not the type to do it half-a$$ed. So it's going to have to wait a bit. Someday I'll be back. For now, I'm Marks shotgun Biotch.
