New Toy
Picked up a new toy tonight, not really the project I was looking for, most of the work is done. But it looks like I'll be signing up my daughter so she can wheel the XJ while Pops wheels the TJ! The only pics I have, I hijacked off NAXJA. It's a 97, 4.0, AW4 tranny. D30 up front and a Chrysler eight-and-a-quarter out back, stuffed with 3.55's.
Lifted enough to fit the 31 x 10.5's, came with a few mods. The pics probably tell you more than I can. It's got like a million miles on it (OK, it's really a 1/4 million) but the engine is newer and it runs strong
Tires like new, scroo it, I'll just copy from the NAXJA post..... new alt. new water pump, complete tune up, replaced ac condensor and recharged. Timing chain, new front calipers, pads and rotors. New rear shoes, drums, e-brake cable. Replaced the suspension with a factory "up country" suspension, new shocks, budget boost lift, tcase drop, muffler, replaced the sealed headlight bezels with open ones from crown which throws the light a bit better. Added the front brush guard, pair of hellas not wired. Rear Tire carrier added, will carry up to a 37 inch tire. 2 D rings for recovery, plus a new uhaul rear bumper. Rewired the trailer wiring as well. Up top theres a surco rack mounted on thules.
I'm pretty stoked, I got it from the same dude that sold the Mighty one her CJ with the fiberglass body. Didn't beat the deal Meg got but I'm not complaining! Kind of feel like I stole this but it's all good. He named a price, I had cash in hand. Done deal.

Re: New Toy
Bobert! I lost his # and he still has the title to my 84, can you pm it to me.
I'm kinda shocked he sold that one, I do have a story for that Jeep.
I was leaving the RMV headding home when a funeral prosession went the other way. I saw that XJ, liked how it looked and waved (not thinking) then after proclaimed i was going straight to hell. A for waving at a non-wrangler style and b for waving at a Jeep in a funeral. He did wave back. So a few days later I was out of work with a scratched eye and playing around on NEOW and found my newest CJ ( the one I just like for it's body) so I pulled in his driveway and there's the XJ, and he said hey you waved at
me... Apparently as I descided I was going to hell, his brother and him were having a similar conversation about my eternal location. He said it was cool and I was fine
nice looking Jeep Carl, I plan on seeig it In June!

that's funny, we were talking about you. He asked why I didn't buy his fiberglass bodied CJ. I said I didn't know. He said he just about gave it away. I said.... 'to Meg'?mightymeglet wrote:Bobert! I lost his # and he still has the title to my 84, can you pm it to me.

If I'm in my YJ and I pass a lifted XJ, I typically flip 'em the bird.
Nice score Carl. It looks like everyone's daughter will be driving red XJ's.

Re: New Toy
sigh. I miss Doug's XJ. I'll get used to the Scrambler, and he'll sell that next.
If I'm in my Jeep and pass a Jeep of ANY kind, especially the ones that look like they JEEP/aka offroad, I will wave. Had someone flip me off once. His Jeep was apparantly more badass than mine. Stupid pretwenty something.
