Some assembly required...
Some assembly required...
Must be the most obscene words in the English language... Followed closely by "Batteries not included..." or maybe "Flat pack shipping..."
It took ~2 hrs last night to assemble my daughter's toy kitchen, and I busted a knuckle getting it out of the box (fully assembled, it weighs 80 lbs!!) ...
I swear replacing the entire suspension in my XJ would have been easier!!!!
She loved it when we uncovered it this morning though!
Hope everyone is having a great holiday...

So far the kitchen is a big hit... I'm not sorry we got this one, which I think is a little nicer than the plastic ones.

Re: Some assembly required...
When I was little my dad busted up the kitchen table building my doll house. Our old kitchen table had a special coating on it that protected it and one day a few weeks before Christmas I noticed a strange dent in it. My mom told me my dad dropped a hammer on the table, while they were not looking I tested a hammer in the hole and it did not fit well. Christmas came and there was a new dollhouse for me that had a corner that fit perfectly in the hole.
The sad thing is I spent more time painting the doll house than playing with it, and its still not finished. I have to buy lights for it because my mom broke them off. It still needs wall paper and some of the wiring is coming off because it was used as storage for my mom's stuff.

I'm not looking forward to a doll house.... My parents have one that belonged to my sister... Maybe I can get them to refurb it as a project in a few years.

Re: Some assembly required...
I made a very simple bookcase dollhouse out of a small "some assembly required" cabinet. I cut some white boards to make rooms. The beauty of this was it's cheap to do and closes as self as storage when not in use. The girls enjoy it a lot too. below is an expensive real del version from target. Mine is at my camp in Maine so I don't have any pictures.
