Re: NEW MEMBER
Welcome Ian, nice to see another YJ - It looks great! Besides my trail Jeep, my son and I are fixing up an '87 this summer while he's home from school.
Going to be repainted bright red like yours. Take care and see you out there.

Re: Hi my names Jonathan
Hi Jon - Nice YJ. I like the highline fender approach. The 8.8 swap is a solid choice. TJ shafts in the Dana 30 are an improvement over the disconnect shafts, but I would definitely bring spares with an Ox and 37's. I like the retro 90's wheels in the pics. Good luck!

Elias 4wd in Townsend was an NEA supporter for many many years. I have known the owner Lou, before there was an Elias 4WD (30 years) and he is an awesome Jeep guy. https://elias4wdcenter.com/ Other than that, an hour drive in the Boston area to a shop is nothing, IMO. Actually, with Covid, there is ...

Re: to air down or not to air down?
Here is a 20-something year old article by an old member of BSJ.
Airing down will not only make you look like a hero, it will cause less damage to the trails you are trying to climb.

I flat towed here and there back in the day. Never had an issue with driving or handling but you can't back up.

Re: Local wheeler and Detective John Songy...
I've known John for a long time. He was a big, strong, kind guy. He has contributed to land use issues at the NEA level for many years. He helped us organize many Molly Bish charity rides when John Bish could no longer ride on a Harley. He did what he could, when he could. He was a proud Husband, Da...

Re: YJ Brake Question
I believe CJ7's and early YJ's have the same calipers. The unit bearings are also different from 87-90 to 90+.
I run CJ calipers on my front HP44, but they would also fit an early YJ 30.
